For The Love of Place

I am a place theory geek of sorts.  I actually have a favorite geographer – Yi Fu Tuan.  And I have found I’m drawn to the role of place in art as much as I am the art of place itself.

In A LIFE OF LEARNING, by Yi-Fu Tuan in the Charles Homer Haskins Lecture for 1998, Tuan said:

“As a child, I moved around a great deal with my family, and there is nothing like travel to stimulate one’s appetite for geography.”

Here is a link to the lecture – well worth the read.  https://www.acls.org/uploadedFiles/Publications/OP/Haskins/1998_YiFuTuan.pdf
